Myers Manx SR and SR2? Modern Micro Car?

I think the Meyers Manx SR is a cool little car. It is definitely small. Motors Town has a nice online article on it. They make dune buggy kits but the one I saw was really neat (shown in the article above). I think it takes the dune buggy a step up from the traditional form to make it more stylish and more street worthy. It seems to be more on road than off road. I like that it has doors. It - with the dune buggy they make - are kit cars.

Flickr seems to have a 'poster' of the colors of the Meyers Manx SR.

Jalopnik article on the Meyers Manx SR2 (dated 08/18/2010) questions whether one would pay $8900 for it as a kit. With its unique styling, I think it would do well.

I checked the Myers Max site but it does not seem to offer that model anymore. I would it would be very appealing today. I do like their more traditional dune buggy style that they have now.

Old Bug has an article of a Meyers Manx SR for sale. It seems it is an unfinished kit.

I always wondered if one could make a dune buggy using the Smart Fortwo as the donor vehicle? Since the dune buggy would be lighter in weight, it could have very good acceleration and fuel economy.  While Jalopnik thinks the Smart would be better off as a dune buggy, they do show what a Smart dune buggy might look like. I think it is neat. Instead of replacing the Fortwo, I think it would be a great addition to it.

Calypso Caravan; Micro Camper for a Micro car?

I saw photos of this motorcycle caravan / camper. Wikipedia. It was designed for motorcycles but I think it could easily be towed by a micro car, especially if it is a modern micro car. It is a Calypso caravan. It looks like a micro version of the Airstream camper. I found these photos online. I am looking to see if there is more information on them.

The interior looks nice. It seems to use every bit of space inside.

This shows it not just a bed but also table to do things on, the inside being adaptable.

Here is the gull wing door. I think it is better than the small door found on some smaller teardrop campers.

Perhaps to really make them usable as a camper for small to micro cars, it would have a wider stance so they won't tip over as easily and give them a little more room on the inside. It would be nice if someone came out with a plans, a kit or just the whole camper (similar but different to prevent any lawsuits that be charged for infringement on the design). If they did, I would definitely check it out. 

Jeep Trio Concept (2003); Modern Micro Off Roader?

Even though the concept from Jeep is from 2003, I think it could still sell today. I think it is a shame they did not produce some version of this really cool off road vehicle. Jeep Trio Concept 2004. Car Designs News has a nice article on it. I agree with Car Designs News in that it would fit in today. I would put it on my list of next possible cars to buy if they produced it.

I like how small it is. I definitely consider it a modern micro car. 

The seats look comfortable. 

It has a Jeep look to it yet keeps it modern.

I like the ground clearance. I like how the wheels are exposed.

The back seat is neat but I don't more than one person could fit back there.

Continuous Variable Transmission for Modern Micro Cars?

Personally, I think the CVT - continuous variable transmission -  is cool. They give the economy of the manual transmission while giving the convenience of the automatic transmission. One generally associates them with scooters but there are cars that also have them. I have read of problems with the CVT but I think they are making them even better now.

I think they would be ideal for small cars since it would give them an even greater miles per gallon rating yet give them more appeal with those who want an automatic transmission. I think of some small cars as more 'enclosed scooters' than small cars. I think it would be great in a front wheel drive front engine combination or a rear wheel drive rear engine combination; either giving more space inside the vehicle which what is a premium in small cars. 

One such small car was the Subaru Justy (Wikipedia). 

From what I read about it, it not only had a continuous variable transmission but also four wheel drive. It would be nice if Subaru brought back the Justy with all wheel drive and a continuous variable transmission. Perhaps they could rename it 'Outback Jr'.  

Here is a list at Wikipedia of vehicles with a CVT. There were a lot more cars than I expected. It includes cars present and past. 

One such car is the Mini Cooper. The automatic is a CVT. 

Future Brubaker Box?

There is an article that indicates there might be a future Brubaker Box. The article is by Jalopnik.

I liked the original Brubaker Box. I like the design and shape of it. If they do actually make a new one (the article above is dated 2014), I wonder how much it will look like the new one.

I think one could make one using the Faraday Future platform of batteries and wheels. One would not have to worry about getting parts from an older air cooled Volkswagen Beetle or micro bus. It would also make it green. I believe the Faraday Future platform (video) is adjustable.

Rodster. 

I think an alternative to the above could be the engine and transmission and (lengthened) platform of the Smart Fortwo? The Fortwo has a rear wheel drive and rear engine similar to the VW Beetle. One could adapt the Box design to accommodate the radiator but I think it could give a little more modern look.

Morgan EV3 - Cool and Green

I think the Morgan EV3 is both cool and green. It is built on the traditional three wheel Morgan but with batteries and an electric motor. I think it has a clean modern look to it. I would not mind driving one.
I think it is a car for the future.

It has a sleek aerodynamic look to it. With less air resistance, it can go farther and faster.

This is a classic car that one can still get new. 

I think it is neat one can still get their other classic cars. 

VW Scooter - Old Can Be New?

Technologic Vehicles has an article on the VW Scooter concept. It is a three wheel vehicle. I think it looks really nice. With three wheel vehicles coming out lately, I think it would fit in quite well. I think it could be used as a commuter vehicle or a city vehicle. Its small size would make it easy to park and easy to maneuver.

It would be neat to drive this little car or see it being driven on the roads.

VW also came out with a different more traditional scooter.

In my opinion, they should make both scooters. Perhaps the three wheel version could carry the two wheel version in an attachment or small trailer. 

Arcimoto - modern three wheel car?

I think the Arcimoto has an interesting vehicle. It is three wheels. It does not seem enclosed at first but there are pictures with sides and doors. I think it has a lot potential. The original without doors reminds me of the Cam Am Spyder but larger and with a roof.

This is one with doors. It seems the passenger in back can see out. The site indicates soft or hard doors / sides. I like this option. With NH weather varying, this would make it possible to drive it all year long.

I believe this is the cargo version. I can see it delivering flowers or pizzas or other small items locally. I can see how the back cargo area would be great for a wrap for a company name / logo / picture. 

I can see this being used the same way the Scoot Coupes are used in some places; as rental vehicles. I can see how this could be a safer way to have the motorcycle experience but keep ones loved ones peace of mind too. 

Modern Goggomobil Vehicles?

This is one of those 'thinking out loud' type of posts. I wonder if one could create a new line of Goggomobil vehicles using the Smart Fortwo platform? I believe the Goggomobil vehicles were rear engine rear wheel drive vehicles. The Smart Fortwo is a rear engine rear wheel drive vehicle. No doubt the Fortwo would have to be adapted a little but one can could possibly see the possibility. One could incorporate the safety features of the Smart into the new modernized Goggomobil line.

T3 Motion Three Wheel Car - Modern Messerchmitt KR200 Car?

I agree with Wired that this looks like a modern Messerschmitt KR 200 car. It is by T3 Motion. It does seem to have a little bit of BMW Isetta influence in the design too. It seems to have the best of both designs. It looks really practical and really cool.

According to Engadget, it went beyond just an idea. It seems they made at least one. I think they should produce a lot of them. I would not mind driving one. 

They seem to carry much of the concept design into the actual vehicle. I think it looks really nice.

Isetta 2020 Concept?

I think this Isetta 2020 concept is very unique. Coroflot. It does not seem to open from the front but perhaps more from the sides in a traditional entry way? It does not look like it could hold more than one person but it is difficult to see scale since there is nothing to compare it to.

It does seem rather narrow. It does not seem to have room for more than one person.

The door does not seem to be on the front like the original but it does not really show any doors at all on the sides either. Being just a concept, perhaps they will add the doors if it was to be produced.

The BMW Isetta 'Evolved' to a New Form?

Auto Evolution has what could be an 'evolved' form the BMW Isetta bubble car. I think it looks really nice and more practical (for driving today) than the original one was. It seems to be a reverse trike but - like the original - the back wheel could be two that are really close together. Unlike the original, the doors are on the side and not the front.

I think it has a really sleek and aerodynamic design.

One can see the unique seating arrangement and how it can be parked.

New BMW Isetta from BMW?

The theophiluschin has a short article and photos on a possible new Isetta from BMW. It does look very unique. It does not seem to have the problem of a single front door might have. It is very small. I guess its size does appeal to me since I like small. I wonder how well it would have sold if BMW had actually made it (as far as I know, they have not unless it was in Europe and not in America).

It does look inspired by the Smart Crossblade design.

While I think the 'suicide' doors are cool, I wonder how many would want it on their car? 

Isetta hater designs 'new' Isetta?

Apparently the reasoning behind designing a 'new' (his version of it) Isetta is because he hated the original. I do think his version is really nice looking. It is an updated version of the original. I think if BMW had continued making the Isetta, it could have looked like this. Yasid Design. I think it is nice that it is in both a four wheel and a three wheel version.

It seems to have many elements of the original but with a modernistic look to it.

Microlino - Isetta Reborn

I think this Microlino is really nice. It looks like an electric version of the iconic BMW Isetta. It has the single front door and windows similar to the Isetta. With it being electric, it is green and cool. Some might see a potential problem with the door opening forward.

Uniti - Swedish EV Micro Car?

I think this little electric car / micro car from Uniti is really nice looking.  Autoblog indicated they raised 730,000 dollars. Tree Hugger seems to like the design and idea. With it being electric, it could help cities and small towns reduce air pollution that gas powered vehicles normally produce.  The styling seems similar to the Reanult Twizzy but with complete doors instead of the 'bar' that Renault car has. It seems longer than the Smart Fortwo or Fiat 500 but narrower than either.

I like the black and white color combo.
